Kansas City, Kan. (September 29, 2007)
David Ragan and the No. 6 Discount Tire team caught a horrible break in
Saturday's Yellow Transportation 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at Kansas
Speedway. On lap five the Discount Tire Ford Fusion suffered mechanical
failure coming off of turn four. Ragan was ordered to the garage for
repairs. Crew chief Mike Kelley diagnosed the problem and got Ragan back
on the track, 12 laps down. He managed to finish the race with a 34th-place
finish. It was a disappointing end to a promising day. |

Ragan started the race in 14th but lost a number of positions the first
three laps of the race. On lap five, Ragan had fallen off the pace and
suffered mechanical failure. Ragan was ordered to the garage for repairs.
Ragan was back on the track by lap 31 in the 42nd position. The first
caution of the day flew on lap 32. Ragan was ordered to the pit stall
on lap 34 for adjustments. Kelley called for four tires, fuel and an air
pressure adjustment. |

On the restart on lap 38, Ragan was in the 41st position. On lap 56,
Ragan said the Ford Fusion was scary loose. The caution flew yet again
a few laps later and Ragan was called to the pit stall for major
adjustments on lap 59. Kelley ordered four tires, fuel, track bar
adjustment and an air pressure adjustment. Ragan exited the pit stall
in the 40th position. |

Ragan and the Discount Tire team showed great character and determination
the final 140 laps of the race. Although they battled handling problems
much of the race, the team managed to secure a 34th-place finish. |

 |
"We had horrible luck at the beginning of the race," said Ragan. "We didn't
have a chance to show what we could do today. I feel so bad for the Discount
Tire family. Our guys worked hard all week preparing a great race car and
to be out of contention so soon is tough to deal with. We have to put it
behind us and get ready for Charlotte." |

The 34th-place finish leaves Ragan fifth in the Busch Series point standings.
Ragan and the team will return to action Friday, October 12 at Lowe's Motor Speedway |
