Discount Tire has gotten a lot of mileage out of its
tire-tossing granny television ad, which has been on
the air for 32 years. |

drivers, David Ragan (left), Carl Edwards, and Greg
Biffle, while shooting a commerical for Discount Tire.

Team. |

Now, the Scottsdale-based company is adding a new
wrinkle by adding a "Little Old Lady" icon to the
racecar it sponsors in the NASCAR Busch Series. |
Discount Tire will unveil the No. 6 Ford Fusion car
with the Roush Racing team this weekend at Phoenix
International Raceway. |
"We're having some fun with it and trying to make it memorable,"
said Rob Wise, Discount vice president of marketing. |

A new ad featuring a new granny is also planned. The commercial was
shot this week at a Discount store in Goodyear with NASCAR drivers
David Ragan, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards. |
The new commercial includes a spinoff of an old Coca-Cola commercial
in which a young football fan gets a football jersey from his hero,
former Pittsburgh Steelers player "Mean" Joe Greene. |
Discount, which has over $2 billion in annual sales, plans to begin
broadcasting the new commercial in May. The original tire ad is the
longest continuously running TV ad. |
