Brad Keselowski on taking a lap in the Nationwide car:
"Texas is an extremely fast track in any kind of car,
but no car gives you the sensation of speed that the
Nationwide Series car does. It actually feels faster
than a Cup car. You enter Turn 1 at around 190-195 mph,
depending on whether you are in race trim or qualifying
trim. If you car is handling the way it needs to, you'll
go through that corner without lifting, or barely
lifting, out of the throttle. You're on the edge the
entire lap and if you don't hit your marks you can
easily end up in the wall. It's cool to have the points
lead for the first time in my career, but you can lose a
lot of points at Texas if you don't bring you car home
in one piece."
Crew chief Paul Wolfe on preparing a car for Texas motor Speedway:
"Texas is a very 'line sensitive' racetrack so you have
to give your driver a car that is well-balanced. It's
also heavily aero-dependant because the speeds are so
great. Inevitably, someone will hit the setup just right
and pull away from the rest of the field. Hopefully that
will be Brad and the Discount Tire Dodge Charger this
Saturday. We're happy with the way we've started the
season - the points lead is nice - but there is a long
way to go. We need to keep clicking off top-five
finishes and the wins will come."
Brad's Nationwide Career Record:
Starts: 110
Poles: 5
Wins: 6
Top 5: 38
Top 10: 57
Winnings: $5,411,823
News and Notes
This Week's Charger: The No. 22 Penske Racing Discount Tire Dodge Charger team
will use chassis PRS- 030 during Saturday's race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Keselowski drove this chassis to a fourth-place finish at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway in February.
The No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Charger in 2010: After six races, Keselowski and
the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge team currently lead the Nationwide Series driver
point standings. Keselowski owns a four-point lead over Carl Edwards.
View from the Top: In his third full season of competition, Keselowski has
assumed the lead in the Nationwide Series driver point standings for the first
time in his career.
Top-Five Streak Continues: Keselowski earned his fifth consecutive top-five
finish of the season with a third-place result at Phoenix International Raceway
last week. That is the longest current top-five streak in the Nationwide
Series.
Leading the Way: Keselowski is one of only two drivers to lead a lap in each of
the six Nationwide Series races this season.
The Rest is History: In April of 2006, Kurt Busch picked up the eighth
Nationwide Series win for Penske Racing when he took the checkered flag in the
O'Reilly 300. In nine starts the organization has one win and one pole (Ryan
Newman, 11/2005), along with one top-five and three top-10 finishes.
Meet Brad Keselowski: Keselowski will be signing autographs at the Discount Tire
store located at 2405 Grapevine Mills Circle in Grapevine, Texas at 1 p.m. CDT on
Wednesday, April 14.
